Are you interested in education along with food access and environmental sustainability? We have an opportunity to engage with a unique organization focused on these issues while living and working in San Francisco.
Education Outside is at the forefront of San Francisco’s green schoolyard movement, transforming asphalt playgrounds into green schoolyards promoting learning and healthy eating. We will be working on several school sites building and maintaining gardens, and will have the opportunity to participate in some curriculum activities with the school children. We also plan to visit related organizations in the food justice movement.
Our home base in the city will be the Waller Center located just outside the Haight-Ashbury district. San Francisco is an incredibly diverse and vibrant city and we will have the chance to enjoy exploring parts of the city during the week. This trip will be a great experience to learn about how cities are addressing the need for science and environmental education while greening their space.
